At The Study Nook, our Maths tutoring follows a personalised and structured approach, ensuring that each concept builds upon the foundation laid before it.
In our lessons, we break down mathematical concepts into smaller manageable parts. This empowering approach helps learners gradually build both their skills and confidence. Paired with our supportive learning environment, it creates the perfect conditions for students to gain confidence and develop a comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts.
Our multi-sensory approach to lessons is beneficial for all students, however it is particularly beneficial for learners with specific learning challenges, as it caters to their specific needs.
The Lessons
INITIAL ASSESSMENT
The first step in supporting your child is to gather specific diagnostic information so we know exactly what your child’s strengths and challenges are. You may have had an assessment previously and this will be useful in guiding us, however, we do require the completion of a Diagnostic Assessment. The information from this assessment enables us to tailor support sessions in a very specific and evidence-based way.
LESSON STRUCTURE
Lessons will follow an individualised scope and sequence, tailored to your child’s specific needs. Each lesson will cover:
Foundation Number Knowledge.
Revision of past learning and concepts.
Explicit teaching following the ‘I Do, We Do, You Do’ model.
Basic Facts - automaticity focus.
All students leave with follow up activities for home.
CLASS SIZE
Maths tutoring lessons are either one-on-one, paired or small groups of a maximum of 4 learners. Paired and small-group lessons will only occur if there are learners with similar needs. Parents can select their preference on enrollment.
